Now back to being with an Indie label (Metal Blade Records) after a messy situation with a major label, 3 has been doing this long enough to where our name of Undiscovered doesn't apply as much to them. That's not to say that they're a household name however, because if they were, mainstream radio would be taking more notice and they'd be getting the recognition they deserve. Anyhow, after seeing this band live, I have an even greater appreciation for them. There was already a lot of love for them through their "The End is Begun" release, but the live energy from the band makes the songs that much better. It's already great music, but the energy and intensity oozing from the band during their tightly crafted material makes hearing the record again even better. In this interview, Joey Eppard and I talk about 3's history, how they construct their music, silly band videos from the road, admiration for fellow Indie band Kiss Kiss, lowering the bar for their live expectations, and many more details about the live and recorded elements that make up 3. If you don't have "The End Is Begun," get it. If you haven't seen them live, do it. Both are money well spent. And if you're thinking about making some impressive metal-ish, complicated-ish, melodic and thumping prog-rock, be sure to check them out first so you can see how it's done.
