If you don't know who this person is, click through the links to get to his website first. Then take a listen through the interview. Reason being, it doesn't hold up quite as well when I say that this interview is one of the biggest I could ever hope to do. A QUICK list of artists he's worked with includes Supertramp, Elton John, Devo, Kansas, Jeff Beck, Lou Reed, Duran Duran, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles, but I think his most significant work could arguably be from working with David Bowie. Bowie himself said that Ken Scott was his George Martin. Ken and I discuss many aspects of the recording industry as it stands today versus how it has stood in periods past. His answers include various stories of working with his list of legends, and I try to not get too excited when they come up - NOT an easy task! We talk about digital recordings and their "benefits," why making decisions should be enforced, talent and what record labels like to do with it, his engineering, producing, and management stories, and for the Indie bands - why Ken prefers working with bands in your position - no joke! A special thanks to Ken for accommodating me into his busy schedule, as well as Eddie Ashworth (an engineer friendly to Indie rockers with an impressive resume all his own) for making this happen.
